The KWBA (Kenilworth-Winnetka Baseball Association) was founded in 1971. KWBA is a not-for-profit, all volunteer
organization that creates a fun, safe, community environment for boys and girls
to play baseball, build character, learn sportsmanship, develop skills and make
friends.
In 2016 nearly 700 area children participated on either a spring, summer, fall and/or travel league team. We serve children primarily from Kenilworth, Winnetka and Northfield.
The KWBA sponsors several leagues, including Spring house leagues for grades 1 through 8, a summer Travel program (ages 9 through 12), a Summer house league (grades 3 through 8) and a Fall league (grades 3 thru 9). The leagues are organized by grade and include Pinto (1st grade), Stallion (2nd grade), Mustang (grades 3 & 4), Bronco (5th & 6th grade), and Pony (grades 7 & 8). We've also taken leadership in organizing summer Colt & Palomino teams for ages 15 through 21.
Some general rules about league participation. All area children are eligible to join and play in the KWBA. However, we strongly discourage participating in multiple baseball leagues, primarily from a safety concern for the child, and fairness (due to potential attendance conflicts) to other team members. In addition, a child must play on a KWBA house league team to be eligible to play in the Bulldog Travel program.
The umpires for the KWBA house leagues are community students (7th grade through high school). For many their first job is a KWBA umpire. We ask all parents to support these young adults and remember they are not professionals.
